“Within Indigenous communities, Two-Spirit people have long held sacred roles and wisdom, enriching our traditions with their powerful presence, guidance and contributions. Yet, we acknowledge that many still face barriers to accessing safe healthcare, cultural support, and community acceptance. As Health Directors, we stand in solidarity with those working to dismantle these barriers, ensuring that everyone is treated with the dignity and care they deserve.” – Nauness, Janice George, FNHDA Board President, Health Director for Stsโailes Yeqwethet.

Our Board Member, Rhoda Hallgren, Health Director for Carrier Sekani Family Services (CSFS), has this Wise Practice to share how they made pronoun buttons in their community:
“We purchased a button maker because we wanted to make our own pronoun buttons with our logo. At a community health fair that was really promoting wellness for youth, our Jordanโs Principle team made buttons with all the pronouns:
They/Them/Their
She/Her/Hers
He/Him/His
They made the buttons in all different colours with all different fonts with our CSFS logo faintly in the background. The youth loved it โ so we are purchasing button makers for the other youth specific offices so they can have them at the front and so staff can wear them.
It just helps to affirm our โsafe spaceโ title that we advertise via stickers in the windows.”
