It’s National Indigenous History Month!
June is a time of celebration! National Indigenous History Month is an opportunity to honour the strength, vitality, and resilience of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples. It’s a time to raise our hands to the richness of cultural diversity and traditions and uplift the powerful contributions of Indigenous Nations and communities everywhere.
Indigenous histories are woven with ancestral wisdom. On behalf of the First Nations Health Directors Association, we invite you to honour their legacies by celebrating Indigenous families, communities, lands, and cultures. This month is also an opportunity for everyone to join in the recognition of Indigenous excellence.
Events and celebrations are happening in Nations and communities across BC, culminating on the summer solstice, June 21, with National Indigenous Peoples Day.
Let’s come together to celebrate Indigenous shared histories, collective strength, and the vibrancy of Indigenous cultures now and always.
